Alliances towards Master Sustainability
Our commitment, effective actions
All the staff at AMS Compostable is very proud of applying the Business Ethics and Eco Efficiency (BEEE) philosophy. We are happy and grateful of ratifying the alliance for the co-funding of the project: Impact reduction of massively consumed and agricultural plastic, in the environment and human health through comprehensive management in a circular economy in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and funding from The French Facility for Global Environment (Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial) (FFEM), to be implemented during the 2020-2024 period.
A general overview of the importance of the project is addressed below by mentioning some of the key strategies. Taken from the article Circular economy applicable to agri-food sector; this will serve as a reference to ensure the achievement of the goals set out by the project:
- Water, energy and organic matter management for its reutilization or other type of uses; in accordance with the substitution of fossil fuels.
- Sustainable food production.
- Optimization of containers and packaging design, which results in a lesser use of materials and environmental footprint.
- Design of new food products for multiple society sectors through the utilization of byproducts.
- Encouragement of collaborative economy.
- Reduction of food waste through the entire agri-food chain.
- Zero waste culture.
In this way we consolidate our commitment to this project from the private sector standpoint, in conjunction with the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica and its Bicentenary Government Plan 2018-2022, supporting the Objectives for Sustainable Development of the 2030 Agenda, in specific with the 12th Objective, regarding Responsible Production and Consumption.
AMS Compostable will supply products (biodegradable-compostable) for a financial equivalent of US$10 million, during the 2020 – 2014 period. The support comes from our Socio- Environmental Responsibility fund. The supply of this products (cash co-finance) corresponds to the monetary equivalent that the company will invest in the period mentioned. We aim to guarantee effective efforts that match with the objectives, effects, deadlines and audits established by the project (FFEM – UNDP). Under no concept the co-finance of our company is to be understood as a transfer of financial resources to the UNDP in Costa Rica, the latter will only be the entity responsible of coordinating and guarding the investments for mutual achievement of common objectives.
